Arraigo familiar (family roots-based residence)

Residence and work permit, with no prior stay requirement, for parents or guardians of dependent EU minors, or for people caring for a family member with a disability who is a national of an EU/EEA/Switzerland State.

Who is it for?

Parents, guardians or persons with custody of a dependent, cohabiting EU minor, or those providing support to a family member with a disability who is a national of an EU/EEA/Switzerland State. (Parents of SPANISH minors apply through the family-of-Spanish-nationals regime, not this one.)

Main requirements

  • Be a national of a country outside the European Union
  • Be a parent, guardian or person responsible for a dependent EU minor (or provide support to an EU family member with a disability)
  • Have no criminal record in Spain or in your previous countries of residence

5 years

Usual documentation

  • Full valid passport
  • Birth certificate of the minor and a document proving the relationship
  • Identity document of the EU family member
  • Cohabitation certificate / joint registration (empadronamiento)
  • Criminal record certificate from your country of origin and from Spain
  • Application form (form EX-10)
