Residence and work permit as an employee (initial)
Initial temporary residence and work permit for employment for foreign nationals who are going to be hired by an employer in Spain. It is applied for from outside Spain by means of a visa.

Who is it for?
Non-EU nationals over 16 years of age who hold a job offer or employment contract from an employer in Spain and reside outside the country.
Main requirements
- Be a national of a country outside the EU/EEA/Switzerland (and not a family member with the right of free movement)
- Apply from outside Spain, with a visa (not being irregularly in Spanish territory)
- Hold a job offer or employment contract guaranteeing continuous activity
- Have no criminal record in Spain or in your countries of residence over the last 5 years
Duration
Between 90 days and 5 years depending on the contract (usually 1 year initially), renewable.
Usual documentation
- Valid passport or travel document
- Signed employment contract (official form)
- Qualification or professional credential required for the position
- Proof of the employer's financial solvency (tax / income tax returns)
- Criminal record certificate from your country or countries of residence over the last 5 years
- Application form and fee forms (form 790, codes 052 and 062)
